The last section (the front part) was completed in 1913. It is the family home of Eraste Charles Landry, a prominent sugarcane and cotton farmer in the Lafayette area. Threatened by demolition, the Bordelon family bought and moved the house from Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette, then restored it at its present location in 1974. Their large, spacious home (over 5000 feet) is presently nestled among huge, centuries-old, live oak tree and 80 year-old pecan trees on nine acres of the highest ground in Lafayette Parish -- 11 feet above sea level! |
